The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is a regional centre of excellence for HIV/AIDS treatment, training, and research in sub-Saharan Africa. As part of the Makerere University Faculty of Medicine, the institute provides quality care for people living with HIV/AIDS, trains health care workers from all over sub-Saharan Africa in HIV/AIDS care, and conducts research to develop models for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment on the African continent.
To build capacity in Africa for the delivery of sustainable, high-quality care and prevention of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases through training and research.
Goal of IDI
Sustainable improved quality of care and increased level of service for HIV/AIDS and related infectious disease patients in Uganda and sub-Saharan Africa.
This course costs approximately $7,000 per person for the doctor’s course, and $4,500 per person for the nurse’s course. These are estimated costs that cover all aspects of the course: tuition, lodging, travel, food, etc.
